Summary for creating an automation that emails customers after they've signed up and follows up a week later:

  1. Create a new Automation.

  2. Set the Trigger as contact created with a filter for Has Tag Customer.

  3. Add Wait 1 Day.

  4. Add Send Email either type in the first welcome email or select a template.

  5. Add Wait 7 Days.

  6. Add Send Email either type in or select a template maybe one with a coupon.

  7. Add Send SMS to let people know you've sent them a coupon.

  8. On Settings of the Automation disable allow re-entry.

  9. Mark the Automation as Published and Save.

See detailed steps with images:

On the CRM, go to the "Automation" Section and create a new Workflow from Scratch

Give your Automation a suitable name and then "Add New Trigger"

Select "Contact Created"

Click "Add filters" and create a new filter with "Has Tag", "Equal to", "Customer" then click Save

Click the + under your Trigger and select "Wait". Set the time delay to 1 day and Save Action

Click the + under your Wait, select "Send Email" and start filling in:

From Name, From Email, Subject and select a Template you've made or manually type your email, then click Save Action

Add another wait, but this time for 7 days

Then add another Email, same as before, but with different content, potentially a coupon for your site

You can also send an SMS along with this to prompt customers to check their emails for the coupon

You can add more steps to go for weeks and weeks if you choose. Once you're happy with your workflow, go to "Settings" at the top and disable "Allow re-entry" so it doesn't run the automation more than once for a customer

Finally, "Publish" your automation and "Save"

It will now show up in your Workflow List as marked as Published

(Optionally add a sticky note to summarise what you're Automation does)
